Participation on the Dike-New Hartford Trapshooting Team is open to any student with good academic standing in grades 6-12. Registration for the team is held in January and February, with practice starting in March. Meets are held in April and May. An organizational meeting will be held in January each year, with the first team meeting in late February. Exact dates will be listed on our home page.
Registration forms to join the team are listed below. There is a $25 membership fee to the Scholastic Clay Target Program, the governing body of junior high and high school trapshooting. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources provides additional governance and training for Iowa school trapshooting. We follow the same academic standards as any other student/athlete, as set by the DNH school district.
We practice one-two times per week in March and once per week in April and May, after we start meets. The season concludes the first week in June, with the Iowa High School State Meet, a three-day shoot held at the Cedar Falls Gun Club.
To participate in trapshooting, the four forms below must be completed and returned. All forms may be submitted to the school, turned in at the organizational meeting or at the first team meeting. They can also be dropped at head coach DeWayne Purdy's house at 332 U Lane in Dike. Completed forms and SCTP dues are required prior to participating in a shooting practice.
